Points Accumulation Through 47 Games

It's been a while since I've posted, yes. Things should pick up a bit now that college apps are finally completely finished (FINALLY I'M DONE!)...

With that, here's a little intermediate post about points accumulation through 47 GP.

Just a few thoughts about what we see here:
  • Teams
    • San Jose has separated themselves from the pack as of late, but the Kings have been climbing faster than we have. If not for their 5 game losing streak around game 26, they would have passed us in points.
    • Dallas and Phoenix have kind of sat together in the middle of the pack in the Pacific. Dallas has a slight edge in points, I think that's more due to their early successes.
    • The Ducks still stand out (stand below) the rest of the Pacific in terms of points, but they've been on a tear recently. They've had the most consistent climb in points recently, and if it wasn't for their horrible November, they would probably be up with San Jose and LA. Then again, can the Ducks actually maintain their points% from the last ten or so games? This would be an interesting time to look at PDO stats, to see if November was an anomaly or if this recent streak has seen a bit of luck go the way of the Ducks. And that was horrible syntax, which is what I get for trying to write a post while watching the Sharks destroy the Blue Jackets.
  • Parity
    • Take out Anaheim, and there's only an 8 point difference between the top and bottom teams in the Pacific.
    • With Anaheim that difference is 15.
    • For comparison, the Atlantic points difference is 20 (Atlantic minus NYI: 10), Northeast: 19, Southeast: 11, Central: 37 (Central minus Columbus: 4), Northwest: 23

  1. Hey, I like that the teal line is on top, that's all that matters. :D
